As promised, here are some sweet pictures of Schyler practicing his "smiles".  He has been smiling more and more lately.  He is starting to smile when he is having fun or when he is excited to see someone instead of just randomly.  Every time he smiles we just melt!  Enjoy!

My First Halloween!

We had our first Halloween this past weekend, and had a special friend visiting us, too.  Julie Degraw came from Chicago and was with us all weekend, which was so much fun.  It was great catching up with her - and she was such a big help!  Schyler loved meeting her!

So, for Halloween weekend we had a new Halloween outfit for each day.  Friday was Darth Vader day (we carved pumpkins Friday night).  Saturday was glow in the dark skeleton day, and Sunday was lion day.  Schyler looked so cute in all of his outfits, but the lion was absolutely precious!  Thanks Barb!  Here are some pictures!

Graham was the pumpkin carver this year...he did an awesome job!
Family photo!  We love our little man!
 Schyler and Julie

We took this one with the camera timer...couldn't quite get the dogs to cooperate.
 Sweetest ever.

Schyler has been smiling SO much the last couple of days!  He looked at Graham a couple of days ago and smiled a huge smile.  Today Mimi was playing Patty Cake with him and he LOVED it - was smiling SO much!  And he was having so much fun when I had him in his play gym.  Every time I "kissed" him with his little lion stuffed animal he got a huge smile on his face.  More pictures of the smiley guy to follow!  We are so thankful for our little lion man.  He has brought so much joy to our lives!

The First 3 and 1/2 Weeks!

It sure has been an adventure these last 3 and 1/2 weeks!  Schyler is doing really well and seems to be changing almost daily.  His first week home was a rollercoaster ride for us as we were thrown headfirst into parenting.  We ended up at Children's Hospital our first night home, which is a long story with a happy ending (we talked to a triage nurse who was concerned that he was dehydrated, which he wasn't, and we were just being paranoid).  We now know what it is like to be parents and to be completely helpless and worried about our child!

At his 2 week appointment he weighed 9 lbs. 10 1/2 oz. and measured 23 in. long (he grew a whole inch in 2 weeks)!  He has been sleeping really well this past week.  The nurse practitioner said we don't have to wake him up at night anymore and he sleeps for 5-7 hour stretches.  So we have been getting some sleep, which is great since we both need it!

Graham has been doing really well in vet school.  It has been long hours and he has had a lot of tests already but he is really enjoying it.  I have been loving being home with Schyler and do not miss school at all yet.  Our "homework" from our nurse practitioner was to have a date night sometime before his 2 month checkup, so we are going to have to find a good babysitter (mom, Jenn...)  :)

So far, things have been challenging but very good and we are loving having Schyler in our lives!  The pups are also adjusting very well.  They were a little depressed at first but love Schyler and are very gentle and sweet with him!

Here are some pictures from the first 3 1/2 weeks.  We have taken about a million already, so here are some of our favorites!
